Native Voices: Indigenous Language and Poetry Symposium

Native Voices: Indigenous Language and Poetry Symposium

In June 2007, the Native Voices Symposium celebrated linguistic and cultural diversity by welcoming poets from around the world to explore how languages are preserved and invigorated by poetry, storytelling, bookmaking and literary pursuits. Many of the panel discussions and poetry readings are now available for viewing, courtesy of ArizonaNativeNet.

The Native Voices Symposium is a program of the University of Arizona Poetry Center (College of Humanities), in partnership with the American Indian Language Development Institute (College of Education). Support for Native Voices comes from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Arizona Humanities Council. This event was filmed by KUAT.
